Witchkin {Guest Post}

Witchkin {Guest Post}

Happy October 1st!
I’m right in the middle of my craft room island project, and I can almost see the finish line!
Sorry, I can’t share any pictures with you yetbecause it’s top secret.  ;-)
But… I do have a super-duper-crafty-guest here to share a project with you.
Enjoy!!!

Hi, My name is Tuesdee and I’m from Everyday is a Crafting day.
I’m the mother of 4 little girls and we LOVE to craft.  I’m new to this craft blogging world
and I’m really excited to be here to do a Guest Post on Sawdust and Paper Scraps!
I’m going to give you a run down on how to make, what I call, a Witchkin. Half Witch half pumpkin. Yes, my creative daughters helped me name her. :)
What you will need…
3 pumpkins Different sizes work well.
1 witch hat
2 floral branches (for the arms)
Epoxy and or hot glue
a pumpkin cutter
and a light (I got mine at hobby lobby for around $3)
and some Ribbon.
The first step is to draw a face on your smaller pumpkin and carefully cut it out. The craft pumpkins will make a mess but it is well worth it. Before you cut make sure you draw it out on the pumpkin and test it with your hat to make sure it looks OK, we don’t want the hat covering up her face.
Next you are going to to cut a hole in the back of her head, so you can insert your light. I use a single light bulb with a 6 foot cord. Remember the pumpkins can be flammable so you don’t want to use a real candle.
Next you are going to stack your pumpkins on top of each other. Most of the craft pumpkins you can buy already have the bottom cut out for lights. I also cut off the stems (on the bottom 2 pumpkins) and level it off a bit. Put the pumpkins together and eye it. If you need to trim a little here, or a little there to make it even, go for it. Once you get them so they stand up pretty well with out glue, epoxy them together!
Once the epoxy sets, glue on her hat. Make sure that when you glue it on, her face it still visible.
Last thing you need to do is add the bow around her neck and her branch arms. The branches shove in pretty easy. If you have a hard time getting them in, cut a small hole smaller then the arms to get them started. Add your light and enjoy!!
She makes a wonderful addition to your front porch to meet your trick or treating friends!

I’m thinking this Witchkin is sporting a pretty nice hat for just hanging out on the front porch!
She’s definitely ready for a night out on the town!
Thanks for sharing another great idea Tuesdee!

I can’t wait to see everyones’ awOOsome (think werewolf) Halloween projects this weekend!
The “Get your Halloween On” party is on Saturday and Sunday now and this weeks “Participant Giveaway” is a $25 store credit to Thirty-One.  It will go to a random participant who links up and posts the party button on their post or sidebar.  How easy is that?
