The last room on my house tour is the Craft Room!
This space was SO much fun to design and build! It was MY space. No one else’s wants, needs, input or concerns to consider. Just whatever my craft lovin’ heart desired (and I could bring to fruition!)
I planned out the height of each drawer specifically for certain tools and gadgets.
I imagined where I would want to stand to cut fabric and how to get in lots of “stations” in case I wanted to host a craft night!

Where I would sit while scrapbooking? Facing the TV with Woodsmith Shop playing in the background, of course! Made sure I had outlets in all the right places for times I’d need a glue or embossing gun?
I had to create a large enough work surface for my “sewing station” to have the sewing machine and the serger both out at the same time and added under cabinet lighting for good measure!

Last but not least, I’d need a great big closet to create even more storage for whatever my little heart might ever decide I just couldn’t live without…and could talk myself into purchasing.
And that is my Craft Room.
I haven’t actually used it so I don’t know if all my planning translated into optimun functionality for my crafting needs, but I’d like to imagine that it did!
I have loved and hated parts of making this ugly duckling the swan it always wanted to be. Now I’m done.
Maybe a little too soon.
I didn’t get to finish everything, but the hubby decided that he wanted this job in Tennessee so I’m willing to move on to my next adventure.
Now all I can do is sit back, wait for a decent offer, and maybe — just maybe, get a little use out of some of these undiscovered rooms!
Read more about building your own corbels and painted MDF countertop on my
“Tutorials” page.
Just for fun, I’m linking up!

OMG. I WANT that room! I have a scrapping room, too, and I wanted built-ins but hubby argued that for resale value, since we only had 2 bedrooms, one couldn't be permanently not a spare room, so I have only pieces of furniture, not the cohesive look I dreamed of…Now YOUR room??? THAT is EXACTLY what I wanted…
{ s o l d ! }
WOW!!!!!!! lust is pouring thru my vains..I want that room!!!
Wow! Your craft room (I call mine my Haven from the world) is awesome! I have left one or two favorite ones behind also in some moves and hoped someone else appreciated them as much as me!! I cannot wait to see your "new" one!nancy
That is heartbreaking. A place for a sewing machine AND a serger!? lol, I can't believe you had the energy to build cabinetry for every single room in your house, if anyone needs a show on HGTV it's you!I did finally buy my first nail gun and pancake compressor, and now I'm just trying to find some time to use it. Darn all these kids!
I loved the tour, but I would buy your house just to have that room!!! Thank you for sharing and inspiring all at the same time. Good luck to you in your new adventures. I can't wait to see what ugly duckling you get your hands on next.
I'm moving in
What a well thought out room for everything you may need. I love it!!
That is SO sad! Such a gorgeous room, and you won't get the advantage of it. Put your house ad in the local quilting guild newsletter, and it will be sold in a heartbeat!
would break my heart to leave this home
I'm having some serious, serious envy here. Now I love the rest of your house. So comfy and inviting. But this room is amazing. I love that it is connected to the kids space but is YOUR space. All the choices, all the storage, all the counter spaces, and all the seating options. Wow!!!!! And I love the cream cablinets with the wood floor. Looks so clean and meticulous- two other things that speak to my heart. Great job! So excited to see the new house when you get it and see what it becomes.
Fabulous!!! I love this room.
Love this!! I would have so much fun there.
Yours is the best house ever! That craft room is amazing!
So do you have multiple offers on your house or WHAT? Seriously, this room would be the deal-maker for me! I absolutely love it! Although I was a bit bummed for you when you said you hadn't used it – all of that work for someone else to enjoy just doesn't seem fair. Well. done!
Oh Sandra, the more we talk, the more I read your blog & the more we Skype…I just love you, you have FANTASTIC taste & I want you to rub off on me ok?? Sounds good.
Hopefully I can get my project done for tomorrow!!!-Kristi@ Creative Kristi
Wow!! I'm drooling over that craft room…great job!
Such an awesome room…such a shame it wasn't put to good use. That room would convince me to buy your house.erinscreative.blogspot.com
Ok, now we all want to move into it!Off to check out the rest of your house, and drool …
Okay, so I raved about the playroom. Um, yeah, the craft room takes the cake. Seriously wanting that in my house.!
I need to bow down to your creativity and skills, knowing that you DIY all of that. Gorgeous and AMAZING!
Thanks for sharing the journey! It's got to be so hard leaving it all. But I'm sure I'm not the only one anxious to see what you will do to your new house in Tennessee!
Hey Sandra–I was thrilled when I saw your picture on Layla's blog and recognized you! I have been devouring your blog ever since. And I have been patiently waiting for this room on your house tour. I LOVE it, and find it sad that you don't get to use it after all that work! You are giving me lots of ideas. I can't wait to see what you do with the next house. -Jenni
If this house isn't sold yet I don't know what's wrong with people….you've done such an amazing job turning this place around. I am dying to know how your place in Tennessee is going to turn out. You are one talented lady!!
I'm in love. Completely in awe that you built all that – will you teach me? Just built my first Ana White project and now have the building bug! I totally agree with someone above; let's put you on TV!
Oh girl…I swear to you that I got a little teary eyed thinking of all the love and attention you put into all your projects and now you have to leave them. If I were moving to your town, I would SO buy your house! Then again, I like to build with wood and you've already done everything! You seriously should take a day and just craft till your hands hurt..you know, just to break it in!(((hugs))) to you!missy
Sandra wait – this isn't the last room, I need to see your garage, perhaps the most important room of all because that's where the magic happens! Pretty please show us your workshop, mine is currently all over the basement floor so I'm dying to see how you're set up. PS – I'm ready with my posts for tomorrow, can't wait to see all the other builds.
The universe started with a bang and your house tour ended with one!You have made such a beautiful, perfect home! -Much of which in such a short time!Wow! Just . . . Wow!
I would LOVE a space of my own like that! Looks amazing!
That is the best room of your home;)Love your whole house!Looks so amazing!Lovely greetings…http://pudel-design.blogspot.com/
I often think myself to sleep with visions of craft room designs dancing in my head.Yours is absolute perfection. Although, mine would be some funky color I'm sure (because I have a hard enough time keeping sane colors in my LIVING room…). And it would have a locking door, so I wouldn't have to worry about my kids messing it up.
Would it be okay with you if I copied this room – right down to the color of the paint on the island and the color of the pendant lights?
I agree with Andrea, though, it must have a locking door. Too many little hands in this house! Just B U T Full! And I am sorry not to have anything to post for tomorrow – it is still too cold here to kick the vehicles out of the garage and reclaim my "workshop" (half the garage) but soon! Oh, Spring, I can almost smell you and you smell like sawdust!!
Ugh, that room is amazing! Sure beats my one wall-three piece furniture-shared with my bedroom space!! I looove the island, the colour is so pretty.
Come do my wee small home!!!!Tennessee is not that far from me here in Virginia!;-)Love this room and your kitchen! You do such awesome work! Hope you find another wonderful diamond in the rough with this move.Lola
What an amazing space!!! Thank you so much for sharing the link to the paint color! For some reason I just saw you wrote this morning
We ended up doing our Chicago trip, Watercolor and Disney before my husband left. I would love to know what your favorite hotel in Chicago is! Sorry for posting this all on here but I didn't know what else to do.
wow…this is stunning! I'm SOOO jealous. Can't wait to see what kinds of creations you crank out of this room!www.northerncottage.blogspot.com
Beautiful room!
I featured your incrediable craft room on my blog today! You are just awesome!
Your house is amazing! I am currently working on my craft room and yours is one of my inspirations. I posted about it here http://littlenannygoat.blogspot.com/2011/02/my-craft-room-and-little-inspiration.htmlthanks!!!
I love those countertops – What kind and color are they?
Wow. That is wonderful. I would love it!
It looks amazing.
I love, love, love this room! Will you please come to my house?
I'm amazed. Stunned. It looks like a photo shoot from a magazine. You must squeal with delight every time you walk you in there!
HOLY COW!!! I love, love, love that room! Wow. Seriously amazed! Great job!
I would LOVE a craft room like that!! All that storage space is just what I need!
That is one great craft room. And I would still be envious if I still had my craft room. Gave mine up when we needed other functions in the house more. Looks like you have so much space to move around and also to store things. I'm sure it will be functional when you get everything settled.
Oh my goodness… Green with envy doesn't even begin to describe it! The kitchen table and little nook in my bedroom are absolutely nothing compared to this beauty. It's incredible!
I am so excited for you! How creative and organized and inspiring is that room!?Enjoy it …love love love your style

Lovely. A crafty gals dream room. It inspires me to clean up my act in my studio! It needs some serious help. If you get the chance, take a peek and you will see what I mean.

Wow! We have a craft room, but it's for 6 people, and all our various hobbies. So it looks nothing like yours. I love yours! Maybe I'll have a room like it when the kids move out.

OMG!!!!! I want to be alone in this room with a glue gun !!!!!!! It is my every wish come true…I guess I did not specify where I wanted the wish to go…ha ha ha.I will have to go to confession for sure because I sure am “coveting” big time!
I absolutely love this room! Can you tell me the dimensions of the room? I want to re-do my sewing room with a center island but I am afraid I don’t have enough room. I can’t believe the buyers didn’t want the island!!
I enjoy your blog!!
Wow, this is so inspiring and empowering! If you can do this, then there are many of us who no longer have any excuses! Thanks for laying the foundation and sharing your genius.
xoxo, Rachel
Thank you for your comment! I am so happy to hear some feedback. Sometimes, I don’t add ketchup at all. Then, it gives me a new taste which is also good.. as sweet and sour could also come from Tomatoes itself.
